What are the Smokefree Services in Glasgow and Clyde?

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Smokefree Services are responsible for a wide range of tobacco projects aimed at reducing the damage from tobacco to people in and around Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Smokefree Pharmacy Service

Within Greater Glasgow and Clyde, all community pharmacies are offering one-to-one support to smokers who want to stop.

The pharmacies also directly supply Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) which means you don't need to go to your GP for a prescription.

You will only pay the cost of a prescription charge for every 4 weeks supply.

If you are exempt from prescription charges, the supply is free.

Pharmacies also offer one-to-one support to patients prescribed Champix® by their GP.

Using NRT or Champix® together with one-to-one support increases your chance of stopping smoking.

What's Involved

You'll visit your chosen pharmacy for 5-10 minutes, once a week for up to 12 weeks, at a time that suits both you and the pharmacist. During this time you will be provided with lots of practical advice and support to help you stop smoking.
