We know that not just one approach to tackling smoking will be successful. Instead, we need a range of approaches including work to stop people from starting to smoke, to help people stop smoking, and to protect people from the effects of breathing in other peoples smoke if we are to really reduce the number of people who smoke and make the people in Glasgow and Clyde healthier. The work must be focused in the areas and with people who need it most. This is most likely to have the greatest effect on people who live and work in Glasgow and Clyde.
This section contains information about other broader tobacco work we undertake to reduce the effect of smoking on people's health, excluding information about stop smoking services. This includes work with young people such as the W-WEST youth advocacy and peer education project, programmes to protect people from second hand smoke, our media and communications campaigns and information on plans we have developed with local councils to reduce the impact of smoking on their populations.
