What is Trade Winds?
‘Trade Winds: Learning About Tobacco’ is an interdisciplinary resource pack for primary schools which was developed as part of the Scottish Government’s Equally Well Test Site Area for tobacco control in Whitecrook, Clydebank.
The resource takes a new approach to tobacco education and extends across all of the curriculum areas and health and wellbeing guidance in Curriculum for Excellence. Guidance for delivering the programme
It is recommended that delivery starts with ‘Topic A – Setting the Scene’ as this introduces learning on tobacco and gathers children’s knowledge on the topic. Teachers may then wish to explore a particular topic based on pupils’ interests or to select lessons from each topic.
Prize Draw
At the end of each topic you will find a Teacher Feedback Sheet which aims to capture how the lessons were implemented and any suggestions for future improvement. Feedback sheets from Greater Glasgow & Clyde schools which are returned to Smokefree Services will be entered into a prize draw in June 2012 to win vouchers to purchase health related resources for your school!
